Govt nod for hiring Jurong to prepare Infovalley masterplan

The Odisha government has approved the proposal of Industrial Development Corporation of Odisha Ltd (IDOC) to engage Jurong Consultants Pvt limited of Singapore for preparation of the master plan for the Info-valley project.Jurong  1146 - 0

“The government has been pleased to accord approval for engagement of Jurong Consultants Pvt limited, Singapore, for preparation of master plan of Info-valley project,” said joint secretary of Industries department PK Dash in a letter to CMD, IDCO.

According to sources, the consultant agency would be paid SGD 6, 50,000 as with a consultancy fee.

Official sources said the Info-valley project would come up on over 600 acres of land and the anchor tenant Infosys has committed an investment of Rs 300 crore in the first phase of the project, which is scheduled to be operational within 14 months of the commencement of construction work.

While Infosys has around 3,000 workers in the existing Infocity and targets to employ another 3,500, the second campus in the Info-valley would have a pool of 5,000 employees in all.

A number of national and international IT majors like TCS, WIPRO have also evinced interest in having their hubs in the InfoValley.

Around 500 acres is under possession for the Infovalley project at Gaudakasipur area under Jatani tehsil. Out of the 500 acres, Government of India notification for SEZ was accorded for 261 acres on January 4 this year. Allotment of 50 acres within the SEZ area has been made in favour of Infosys Technologies for the establishment of an IT software SEZ complex. Infosys Technologies will be the anchor tenant of the Infovalley region, where it will be allotted 100 acres.

IDCO SEZ Development Ltd has been constituted for the implementation of the project. The area planning of SEZ is in progress and implementation and marketing mechanism will be finalized after finalization of the masterplan, sources told OST.

As per the estimates of the Orissa IT department, the Infocity-II project is set to attract investment worth Rs 4,000 crore from IT and ITes (IT enabled services) companies.
