Bhubaneswar, Aug 24 :
Talks between the Central Action Committee of the striking Western Odisha lawyers and the state government today over the issue of a permanent High Court bench in West Odisha ,has failed.
The leaders representing various bars of West Odisha said they were thoroughly disappointed with the chief minister who merely read out a prepared statement that refused to address their major demands like the disbanding of the Pal Commission which had failed to deliver in the last 6 years of its existence.
Chief minister Naveen Patnaik requested the lawyers to end their agitation and said the state government will request Justice Pal Commission to submit its report within two months.
Patnaik also told the lawyers’ delegation that the state government will recommend the setting up of High Court benches in Western Odisha as well as in other parts of the state.
Terming today’s talks as a meaningless exercise, leaders of the lawyers’ delegation said their agitation will continue until their demands were met.
