Govt to expedite ongoing projects in two western Odisha districts

The Odisha government has decided to expedite ongoing projects in Jharsuguda and Sambalpur districts.

Reviewing the progress of projects in these two districts at a high level meeting at the State Secretariat here today, chief secretary JK Mohapatra asked Jharsuguda collector Guha Poonam T Kumar to expedite ground level work of the projects and accord administrative approval to all the projects for which there is commitment of funding.

Besides, engineers of the concerned departments were also asked to expedite the process of technical sanctions of the remaining projects.

The progress of projects like construction of a new bus stand, a stadium, a community hall, development of Pahadi temple and eco park at Jharsuguda, improvement of pipe water supply to Brajarajnagar town were reviewed in the meeting.

Some of these projects will be funded from the periphery development fund of the Mahanadi Coalfields Ltd (MCL).

The other important projects that figured at the meeting include a Heart Care Institute and an airport at Jharsuguda, State Highway-10 and OPGC unit at Banarharpali.

Issues relating to running and maintenance of healthcare institutions, land acquisition, floating of tenders, administrative and technical sanction, advance possession for starting the projects etc were discussed and resolved in the meeting.

The chief secretary asked Revenue Divisional Commissioner (RDC) Northern Division Pramod Meherda to conduct regular review of the projects at ground level.
