Odisha government will provide all necessary infrastructure support and incentives to exporters dealing in cashew nuts and seafood, in which the state has a tremendous potential, chief secretary JK Mohapatra said at an Open House Meet on ‘Export Promotion and Marketing’ organized by the Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO) Odisha chapter here on Friday.
Addressing the gathering, Mohapatra assured the entrepreneurs, exporters along with various exporting agencies of all possible support from the government for promotion of exports in the state.
“Export is another source of demand creation. Export adds value to the gross domestic product (GDP) of the state, generates employment and fetches more income to the people,” Mohapatra told exporters present on the occasion.
“Government will provide all necessary support to the entrepreneurs in matters of reducing the cost of doing business in Odisha through custom duty reduction, product diversification etc,” he added.
“Odisha has a great potential of export in Cashew nuts and sea food products. The export in the sea food segment alone is growing at the rate of 20%-30% and expected to reach Rs 1,000 crore this year,” Dr. Anup K Pujari, Director General of Foreign Trade, Ministry of Commerce & Industries, Government of India revealed.
The members of Sea Food Exporters Association urged the government to provide necessary support in developing more aquaculture units, infrastructural support of fish farming centres besides quick implementation of policies and rules at ground level for augmenting export in the state.
Ramesh Kumar Agarwal, Regional Chairman FIEO and Manoj Kumar Ahuja, Sale Tax Commissioner also addressed the entrepreneurs and exporters present on the occasion.
