Good news for fliers in Odisha. Go Air, a low-fare airline, has decided to launch four daily flights from Biju Patnaik domestic airport to New Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata from the 26th of October this year.
While the airline will introduce two flights to New Delhi, it has decided to operate one each to Mumbai and Kolkata.
The airline is also keen to launch a Bhubaneswar-Bangalore flight in the second phase, as there are only two flights in a week for Bangalore from the state capital.
According to the souces in the Airport Authority, Go Air authorities have sought space to open their booking counter and three check-in counters.
Bookings of tickets in Go Air’s website are likely to begin in a week’s time, sources said.
Go Air will be the third scheduled airline after the national carrier Air India and low cost carrier Indigo to commence domestic operations from Biju Patnaik airport which currently handles 15 daily flights (11 of Indigo and four of Air India).
Go Air authorities have submitted their winter schedule which starts from on October 26 and culminates on March 28, 2015, to the airports authority of India (AAI) .
Currently, Go Air has 19 Airbus A 320 (180-seater) aircrafts and one more would be added soon to the existing fleet.
