Odisha chief minister Naveen Patnaik today announced an ex-gratia of Rs 1 lakh to the family members of a girl student who died after coming in contact with a live wire inside the Upper Primary School at Patimunda of Bahanaga block in Baleswar district on Wednesday.
The chief minister expressed his profound grief over the tragic death of the girl child.
The deceased, Ritika Biswal, a seven-year-old student of class-II at the Upper Primary School at Patimunda of Bahanaga block, had gone to the back side of the school to attend to nature’s call around noon when she came in contact with a live wire, which was illegally drawn from a nearby electric pole by a lady para-teacher staying in the school premises.
Following information, Block Education Officer (BEO) Mayadhar Sahu rushed to the school for an on-the-spot investigation.
On the basis of the report of the BEO, the district administration later placed the headmistress Draupadi Lenka under suspension and dismissed the lady para-teacher Mamata Sahu from the service.
