Bhubaneswar, Jun 24:
Coming down heavily on the state government for its failure in the proper management of temple administration which resulted in gross irregularities and inordinate delay in the Brahma Parivartan rituals of the deities in the Shri Jagannath temple in Puri, the Congress today called for an Odisha Bandh on June 26.
Briefing newsmen at Congress Bhawan here, president of the Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) Prasad Harichandan said the utter callousness of the state government has hurt the sentiments of the devotees in Odisha and the country as a whole.
“The delay in the Brahma Parivartan of the deities was due to the interference of some ruling party members,” he said.
“The Congress will observe the 12-hour dawn-to-dusk bandh across the state. I request all devotees who love Lord Jagannath to lend their support to make the bandh a total success,” the PCC president said.
