Malkangiri police made 34 arrests in the Mathili police station area of the district, which resulted in the busting of a ganja smuggling ring and the seizure of a large cache of the illegal substance. This important breakthrough occurred in Malkangiri.
A piece of intelligence information concerning the activities of ganja smugglers prompted a police team of 75 members to execute a patrolling operation in the forest region of the Mathili police station in the early hours of Friday morning. During this operation, they were able to capture 3,305 kilogrammes of the illegal substance. 17 people from Malkangiri, 11 people from Nabarangpur, five people from Koraput, and one person from Chhattisgarh are among the 34 people who have been detained. Today, each of the defendants was brought before the judge.
As a result of this, the Malkangiri police have already identified 48 instances so far this year, during which a total of 104 individuals have been detained and 12,426 kilogrammes of ganja have been recovered.
In the Orkel police boundaries in the area, authorities discovered a massive shipment of ganja that was being handled by more than one hundred people illegally two days ago. Even when a police unit stopped them and engaged in a confrontation with the marijuana dealers, the dealers were still able to get away because it was nighttime. During the scuffle, a police officer sustained injuries and was subsequently taken to a hospital in Koraput for treatment. Following the occurrence, the local police department notified the intelligence unit that was located in the vicinity.
