Bhubaneswar, Jun 8:
Renowned international shooter Gagan Narang’s shooting training academy ‘Gun for Glory’ will soon open its branch in Chandrasekharpur in Odisha Capital.
“The academy will be inaugurated on June 9 and will operate from third floor of Khadi Niketan Soudha in Chandrasekharpur District Center,” said trainer of the institute Sourav Salon.
The institute has been registered by international body ISSF and state body ORA.
It plans to intake four batches of students in the preliminary stage and aims to train students for Olympics level competitions.
“The institute hosts ten 10 metre target points for students to practice on. We can have 10 students in every batch. Students above 11 years of age can join us,” said manager of the institute Ranu Choudhury.
The academy gives hopes to aspiring shooters from the state as there has been a severe lack of shooting training infrastructure and trainers in the state.
It may be noted that female Odisha shooter Sriyanka Sarangi, who has won many accolades in international shooting competitions, is an alumni of this institute’s Pune branch.
