The owner of the bus identified as Tapan Kumar Mohanty was arrested by Deogarh police from here last evening for operating the bus without having valid documents.

It may be recalled that the Cuttack Road Transport Officer (RTO) Dipti Ranjan Patra, on April 19, had filed an FIR against Mohanty at Lalbag police station in Cuttack for running his vehicle without fitness certificate and route permit.

The move came two days after 27 members of Bargarh-based Bharati Gananatya (an opera party) were killed after the bus in which they were travelling nosedived from Gaelo ghat. The bus fell 300 feet into a gorge.
