Bhubaneswar, Nov 12:
Twin city Commissioner of Police (CP) Dr Rajendra Prasad Sharma on Tuesday directed owners and managers of all hotels with three-star or higher rating in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack to comply with the November 4 direction to file a status report on their staff by Friday. Failure to meet the deadline would result in stringent action, the Commissioner warned.
On November 4, the CP had held a meeting with owners and managers of hotels in the Twin City and asked them to submit complete record about their employees, including criminal antecedents, if any. Besides, he had also asked them to install CCTV cameras at important places inside the hotel premises, including parking areas, adhere to norms of bar and sound limits and submit occupancy charts to the local police/DCP office/CP office either through email or hard copy.
“Today, we set November 15 as the last date of submission of status report from hotels running under Commissionerate police jurisdiction. Action will be initiated against the defaulters,” said Sharma.
A meeting will be held on November 18 with owners of other hotels, lodges, guest houses and owners of malls and office bearers of market associations to discuss issues pertaining to crime control in the Twin City, commissionerate sources said.
Dr Sharma focused on various issues like regulation of parking of vehicles, proper parking areas, regulation of entry and exit of people/vehicles in hotels, security measures, registration after getting NOCs from concerned departments like Fire Departments etc.
Earlier, the Commissioner had held discussions with owners/managers of Mayfair, Swosti Premium, Swosti, The Presidency, Trident, The Crown, Sandy’s Tower, Suryansh and others in Bhubaneswar and Akbari, Sri Jagannath and Grand Bombay hotels in Cuttack.
