The full dress rehearsal for state level Republic Day celebrations were held today at the Mahatma Gandhi marg of Odisha capital.

According to reports, all 78 troupes scheduled to take part in the parade this year were today seen marching down the road stretching from PMG square until the Master Canteen square dress in their parade uniform.

Odisha Police, Fire Services Department, NDRF, Red Cross, NCC, and students of several schools and colleges of Bhubaneswar today took part in the parade. Besides, a visiting troupe from Telangana Police also took part in it.

Odisha Police DG KB Singh today supervised the preparations.

“Today, we conducted the full dress rehearsal for the January 26 parade. Rehearsal is good; however, a little improvement is needed in places. We have discussed that,” said Singh.

Speaking about the security arrangements, he added, “30 platoons of force have been deployed. The DCP will be the in-charge of the forces. Special arrangements have been made for traffic management. CCTV cameras have been set up. Besides, Home Guard, APR (Armed Police Reserve) and women constables have also been pressed into service”.

The highlight of this year’s parade will be a daredevil show performed on motorcycles.
