Puri, Dec 11:
Popular comedian and Ollywood actor Tatwa Prakash Satapathy aka Papu Pom Pom landed in fresh controversy after a BJP leader filed a police complaint in Odisha’s Puri for his alleged remark against Lord Jagannath.
According to reports, Sisir Gamang – son of former Chief Minister Giridhar Gamang – filed a police complaint at the Sea Beach police station seeking arrest of the actor under SC/ST Atrocities (Prevention) Act.
“Lord Jagannath besides being the main God of Odisha has also been the most important God/Deity of my tribe (Soura/Sabar) since centuries. Papu Pom Pom has not only given controversial remark against Lord Jagannath, he has also criticised the Lord of tribal groups. He has insulted Odias and lowered the dignity of the tribals for which I have filed an FIR against the comedian,” tribal leader Sisir Gamang said.
“We have received the complaint and will take action against the actor as per the law,” said PK Mallick, IIC of Sea Beach police station today.
It may be recalled that the stand-up comedian was in the eye of storm after his controversial remarks against Lord Jagannath during a cultural programme in the pilgrim city recently.
Papu had reportedly said that basil (tulasi) leaves over which street dogs pee everyday are used in the rituals of Lord Jagannath.
