Incessant rainfall has triggered fresh flood threat in Baleswar district.
Sources in the revenue control room in Bhubaneswar said the water level of Budhabalanga river was flowing above the danger mark at Rajghat this morning. As against the danger level of 9.5 metres, the floodwater was flowing at a height of 9.8 metres.
At Mathani in Jaleswar, Jalaka river was flowing at a height of 6.14 metres as against the danger level of 5.5 metres.
In view of the situation, the district administration has been asked to remain on high alert.
Meanwhile, authorities of Hirakud dam opened two more sluice gates this morning to release floodwater following heavy rains in the upper catchment areas of Chhattishgarh.
The dam authorities have so far opened 22 gates.
