A man impersonating as a Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel was arrested and forwarded to court for duping passengers in the railway station in Odisha capital.


According to police, the accused identified as Ratikant Dixit (45) hailing from Apartipur under Basudevpur police limits in Bhadrak district approached one Kalandi Pradhan(20) of Chandol, Kendrapara who was in a queue to avail a general ticket for Pune in Konark Express.

The accused assured the complainant that he would get the latter a reserved ticket for some extra bucks. The accused won the confidence of the complainat as the former showed him a wallet having CISF logo, an ID card and also said that he would also be travelling to Pune. An unsuspecting Pradhan gave him Rs 2850 to get a confirmed ticket. However, he did not turn up for quite a long time following which he filed a complaint with the GRP.

Plain clothed cops swung into action and traced the accused roaming near the old reservation counter. A photo ID card in CISF uniform, wallet with a CISF logo and reservation forms were seized from him.

During interrogation, he confessed to have committed such crimes earlier.

He was arrested under section 419 and 420 of IPC and forwarded to court.
