The Commissionerate Police of Odisha capital today arrested four students of AHHA (Air Hostess and Hospitality Academy) for ransacking the institute and damaging the property.

AHHA director heckled

“We have arrested four students of AHHA on charges of ransacking the institute and damaging the property. They would be forwarded to court today. The investigation is still on,” said Bhubaneswar DCP Satyabrata Bhoi confirming the arrest.

Earlier, based on the complaint of the students, the Director of the institute Dillip Routray was arrested on November 19 on charges of fraud.

As per the investigating cops, he had been taking admission of students in his institute without necessary affiliations. Besides, the cops are still investigating the sexual harassment charges against him wherein the girl students on November 18 claimed that they were sent to a Hyderabad based hotel for job, where they were being sexually exploited.

Notably, the students of AHHA near Ram Mandir square of Bhubaneswar on November 18 went on a rampage in the institute alleging that the institute is not providing jobs as committed, withholding their certificates and girl students are being sexually exploited.

Mostly led by girls, about a dozen students heckled the director of the institute and other staff members including the female staff members. Such was the fury of the students that they broke the door and dragged out a female staff who had locked herself inside a washroom. Besides, damage to the furniture and educational infrastructure was extensive.

Tension was kept under check after the cops reached the scene. However, both sides lodged FIRs against each other in Kharavela Nagar police station following the incident later in the day. While the students had alleged fraud and sexual harassment in their complaint, the institute authorities had cited the violence, damage to property and conspiracy to damage the reputation of the institute in theirs.
