Four Maoists surrender in Odisha

Odisha Sun Times Bureau
Jeypore, June 6:

Four hardcore Maoists today surrendered before IG (South-Western) Yeshwant Jethwa in Odisha’ Koraput district, police sources said.

The four red rebels have been identified as Krishna Praska, Raju Hikaka, Kosai Wateke and Durjan Mandingi.

They were members of the Koraput –Srikakulam division of the outlawed CPI (Maoist) and were carrying a reward of Rs one lakh each on their heads, IG Jethwa said.

The surrenderd ultras have expressed the desire to join the mainstream after being disillusioned with the futility of armed struggle and the anti-tribal policies of the Maoist insurgents, he said.

They will be rehabilitated suitably under the surrender policy of the state government, he added.
