Sundargarh, June 2:
Four persons including a couple died and four persons were critically injured when a Tata Sumo (CG-14-0647), which they were travelling, collided head-on with a lorry (OR-23A-1166) at Fagupada between Burla and Bandega on State Highway-10 in Odisha’s Sundargarh district on Monday night.
Sources said the ill-fated SUV, with eight passengers of Bandega village under Talsara police station, was on the way to Bandega from Burla when the mishap took place at about 10 PM.
Following information, Sadar police rushed to the spot and brought out eight persons from the SUV.
All the eight injured were rushed to the district headquarters hospital where four of them were declared brought dead by the doctors.
Of the four injured, three were later shifted to VSS Medical College and Hospital at Burla as their condition became critical.
The bodies of the deceased, identified as Md. Bablu alias Gulam Frid (30), Md. Jamal (60), his wife Ashlima Khaun (50) and Md. Muskain (22) were later handed over to the family members after post mortem today.
Police are on the lookout of the lorry driver who fled the mishap soon after the incident, Sadar Police SI, SK Samal.
