Four die of asphyxiation in Odisha’s Ganjam

Berhampur, Mar 19:

Four persons today died due to asphyxiation while working in an under-construction septic tank in Samantarapur village under Patrapur block in Odisha’s Ganjam district.


According to reports, the four were engaged in the construction of a septic tank and belong to the same village under Jarada police station limits. They were employed by one Juria Pradhan of the village.

After entering into the tank, they fell unconscious following which they were rushed to Patrapur Community Health Center (CHC) where the doctors declared them dead on arrival.

The deceased have been identified as Prasant Kumar Pradhan, Padmalochan Pradhan, Raju Pradhan and Santosh Pradhan.

While Prashant and Padmalochan are siblings, Raju is said to be their uncle, sources said.

Meanwhile, a pall of gloom has descended on the village after the tragic incident.
