The Purighat police today arrested four persons in connection with the murder of an elderly woman at Bhagatpur in Odisha’s Cuttack. Six mobile phones, three motorcycles, 1 kg gold ornaments and Rs 51,000 were seized from them, sources said. The motive behind the murder was loot, informed Twin City Police Commissioner Y.B. Khurania.


Notably, Haramani Sahu (65) was found dead with limbs tied at his residence in Bhagatpur here on June 12. Some unidentified miscreants had barged into her house late night with an intention of robbing valuables. The criminals attacked the woman while she resisted the robbery bid. Sahu was found dead in the morning.

The son of the deceased had levelled serious allegation of involvement of insiders in the killing. He had pointed fingers at his sister and brother-in-law who were staying at the same house on the first floor.

Investigation into the case is on.
