Former people’s representative deprived of old-age allowances

Malkangiri, March 3:

In a shocking incident, an 80-year-old former people’s representative of Eralgundi village in Malkangiri district in Odisha has been deprived of his old-age allowances despite making many rounds of both the Block office and Panchayat.

Brahmananda Padiami who was three time chairman of Podia block from 1968 to 1989 and had represented Niliguda Panchayat in 1964 and later Mate Panchayat as Sarapancha in Malkangiri district has been unable to get neither a Ration Card nor old-age pension despite having no source of income.

Although he has a BPL Card, he has not been sanctioned a residence under Indira Awas scheme.

His health is deteriorating day by day due to old age and he has no money to consult a doctor and buy medicine.

Still, he is going from pillar to post to get his share.
