Bhubaneswar, Jun 11:
With rumours doing the rounds of former Union Minister and Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) president Kamakhya Prasad Singh Deo today joining Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the septuagenarian was prompt to refute the speculations.
Rumour had it that the six-time Lok Sabha member from Dhenkanal and senior Congress leader joined the saffron party at New Delhi in the presence of senior BJP leaders.
“Nothing of that sort is going on in my mind. I haven’t joined BJP. I am very much in Congress. Moreover, I am not in New Delhi,” Kamakhya Prasad Singh Deo said.
It may be mentioned that Singhdeo was first elected to the Lok Sabha in 1967 representing the Swatantra Party.
Notably, the veteran leader was with the Congress for around 39 years.
