Bhubaneswar, Oct 3:

BJP leader Shishir Gamang today moved the Odisha Human Rights Commission (OHRC) seeking protection fearing for his and his son’s life.

The son of former Chief Minister Giridhar Gamang filed a petition before the Rights body alleging life threat from the kin of his estranged wife.

“I have a filed a petition seeking protection to me and my son from the family members of my wife as some of them have criminal antecedents. I apprehend that they might falsely implicate or assault or kill me,” Shishir Gamang told media persons here.

Gamang also told the Commission that his wife Monica Bhrara has tortured his 12-year-old son physically and mentally.

The Commission, however, said that the matter would be transferred to Commissionerate Police as it was first reported to it.

Earlier on Saturday, the junior Gamang had filed a written complaint with the ACP Zone-3 against his wife Monica.

Besides, he had alleged that his wife had left his house with Rs 5 lakh cash and jewelry worth Rs 2.30 crore. Further, Shishir claimed that he came to know that her wife had an illicit relationship with one Gourav Bhrara and have got married in February last year.

However, the Monica rejected Shishir’s allegations.
