Former Congress leader Pranay Sahu joins BJD

Bhubaneswar: A day after resigning from Congress, Pranay Sahu, who unsuccessfully contested Bijepur bypoll last year, joined Biju Janata Dal (BJD) here today.

Sahu joined BJD in the presence of party Supremo and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik at the latter’s residence here. Besides, many workers also joined the party on the occasion.

Yesterday, Sahu tendered his resignation to Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) President Niranjan Patnaik. He alleged that after his defeat in Bijepur bypoll last year, he had requested the party leadership to find out the reason behind the defeat, but in vain. Sahu further alleged that he did not play any role in revamp of the party which made him quit the party.
