Rourkela, Sep 26:
A forester posted in the Bonei forest division of Odisha’s Sundargarh district has gone missing since Thursday morning.
The news about the missing forester, however, came to fore only on Saturday after his family members lodged a missing report at Bonei police station, Police have filed a missing report and started investigation.
Sources said Paramananda Badanayak (50), a native of Tikayatpalli area, works as a forester in the Bonei forest range under Bonei sub division and resides at his official residence at Bonei with his two sons and one daughter. His wife and other family members used to stay at his ancestral house at Tikayatpalli, which is hardly 15 kms away from his official residence.
According to his family members, Paramananda had left his official quarters on his official two-wheeler at about 8.30 AM on Thursday. But he did not return to his house either for lunch or at night. Significantly, he had left his cellphone behind at home while going out that day. After searching for him for two days, his family members lodged a missing report at Bonei police station on Saturday.
According to police sources, during investigation, they have come to know that forester Paramananda had crossed several locations he normally visits every day but had not got down from his motorcycle, which police feels is an indication that he was in a hurry. Police have also come to know that he was last spotted by some forest officials near Gogua at about 11.30 am on Thursday but they had no interaction with him, since he never stopped there.
“Our investigation is on into the case,” said SP Das, IIC Bonei police station.
