Angul: A foreign national was arrested from Angul Railway Station on Wednesday for allegedly duping a doctor of Rs 18.50 lakh here in the district.

The accused was identified as Nicolas Kujoe (44), a national of Ghana. Police seized Rs 18.50 lakh cash, passport and a mobile phone from his possession.

According to reports, Nicolas had been residing in Mumbai on business VISA since October 2018. He duped Dr. Mangal Charan Murmu, a pediatrician posted in Sishu Bhawan in Cuttack, alluring him of providing medical equipment at cheap prices.

The duped doctor along with his relatives tried to trace the fraudster at Rairakhole Railway Station from where he had already fled. Later, Dr Murmu informed the police and lodged a complaint.

Acting on a tip-off, the police raided the Angul Railway Station yesterday afternoon and managed to capture the accused.
