After the commencement of international air operations, two new no-frills operators FLYeasy and Air Vistara are going to start domestic air operations from Biju Patnaik International Airport of Odisha from October this year.
“Both airlines have submitted their flight schedules and have obtained necessary approvals and clearances. While Air Vistara has received approval for New Delhi flights, FLYeasy will connect to Bangalore. Vistara will start its operation on October 8 and FLYeasy will commence its operation on October 15,” said Director of Biju Patnaik International Airport Sharad Kumar.
“The winter flight schedules of these operators have also been submitted to the airport authorities. Preparations are in final stages and the companies have started recruiting ground staff and crew members. We have allowed them to open ticket counters, check-in counters, information desk etc at the airport terminal,” he added.
As per information provided by Bhubaneswar Airport authorities, Air Vistara will operate two flights daily from Bhubaneswar to New Delhi and back.
As per the schedule, a morning flight would take off from Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport, New Delhi at 7.10 am and land in Bhubaneswar at9.20 am. The same flight would take off from Bhubaneswar at 10 am and land at IGI Airport 12.10 pm on its return journey.
Similarly, a Bhubaneswar-bound evening flight would take off from New Delhi at 4.35 pm and land here at 6.45 pm. The same flight would fly from Bhubaneswar at 7.25 pm and arrive at IGI Airport at 9.35 pm.
As per the flight schedule submitted by FLYeasy management, the flight will originate from Bangalore Airport at 6:45 AM and land in Bhubaneswar at8:40 AM. On its return journey, it will depart for Bhubaneswar at 9:10 AM and land in Bangalore at 11:15 AM. On its second trip, it will leave Bangalore at 6:50 PM and land in Bhubaneswar at 8:45 PM and on the return journey, it will leave Bhubaneswar at 9:10 PM and reach Bangalore at 11:05 PM.
FLYeasy will operate a 110 seater Embraer E-Jet E-190 plane.
Notably, there are no direct flights between Bhubaneswar and Bangalore after Jet Airways ceased to operate on this route on October 27, 2013.
After both these airlines start their operation from Biju Patnaik Airport, the total number of flights from the airport will reach 22.
