Good news for air travellers who wish to fly from the Odisha capital to smaller cities like Jharsuguda, Angul, Rourkela and Jeypore.
Air Odisha Aviation Pvt Ltd is all set to start commercial flights from Bhubaneswar to these destinations this October.
“A regional airline Air Odisha Aviation Pvt Ltd has expressed its interest to operate flights from Bhubaneswar to different parts of the state such as Jharsuguda, Angul, Rourkela and Jeypore from this month. This will be a big step towards connectivity in the state”, Sharad Kumar, director Bhubaneswar Airport said.
Kumar said work on the Jharsuguda airport will begin in December this year and would be completed within two years, giving another ‘no frills airport” for the air travellers of Odisha.
Go Air, a low-fare airline, will be operating four daily flights- two flights to New Delhi and one each to Mumbai and Kolkata from the Biju Patnaik domestic airport from the 26th of this month, Kumar said.
The airport director said preparations are on for starting flights from Bhubaneswar to Bengaluru by another airlines operator ATC Airways by February next year, he said.
Currently, 32 flights to eight destinations are operating from the Bhubaneswr Airport.
