Bhubaneswar, Jan 21:
A day after a Bangladeshi national was arrested on charges of furnishing forged documents to procure a passport, Commissionerate police today picked up five persons, including four Bangladeshi citizens, from Odisha’s Jajpur area in connection with the case for questioning.
Police rounded up five persons from Baujang and Katikata areas in the district and brought them to capital city for interrogation. These persons are said to be the accomplices of the Bangladeshi national arrested yesterday in document forgery case.
The Regional Passport Office had reported the forgery case to the Nayapalli police after it detected bogus documents during verification.
According to reports, the Bangladeshi national Md Bashir was staying in Jajpur since last few months. During his stay, he managed to procure forged documents including ID proof.
However, the passport office officials grew suspicious during document verification. The doubts deepened when the applicant was unable to speak neither Odia nor Hindi. Interestingly, he also could not remember the residence address mentioned in his school leaving certificate (SLC) and the voter ID card.
Following this, the officials alerted the local police and subsequently he was arrested.
