A youth, who had sustained bullet injuries in a firing incident on Jharsuguda by-pass road yesterday, died while undergoing treatment today, sources said.

The deceased, identified as Tulsi Rohidas, was hit by three bullets on his head and admitted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack. However, he succumbed to his injuries at the hospital today.

Notably, Rohidas and his friend Raja, who were travelling on a bike, were overtaken by four persons on two motorcycles yesterday. A dispute had ensued over the incident in which one of the four persons opened fire at Rohidas. He sustained grievous bullet injuries on his head and was initially admitted to Jharsuguda district headquarters hospital. As his condition deteriorated, he was shifted to Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (VIMSAR) in Burla and later to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack.

The four persons had fled the spot after the firing incident. Jharsuguda police is currently investigating the matter and efforts are on to nab them.
