Firing accused injured in police encounter in Odisha’s Puri

Puri: A person accused in a firing case was injured in an encounter with police at Talabania in Odisha’s Puri town late last night.

Acting on a tip-off about presence of Rashmi Ranjan Panda, the accused, in the area, police tried to apprehend him but he opened fire at the cops in a bid to escape.

During retaliation by police, Panda sustained bullet injuries on his left leg and fell down. He was initially admitted to the district headquarters hospital and later shifted to the SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack as his condition deteriorated.

Notably, one Rakesh Nayak (25) was shot at by four miscreants near Siddha Mahavir Square under Town police limits here last night.
