Fire at ordnance factory in Odisha’s Badmal under control

The fire brigade personnel brought a  major fire, which fire broke out in the ordnance factory at Badmal near Saintala in Odisha’s Bolangir district this morning, under control.

However, two employees of the factory injured in the mishap, sources in the factory said.

According to reports, the fire broke out at Unit-V filling station inside the factory premises at 7.50 AM. Following information, the fire brigade at Saintala rushed to the factory and doused the fire.

There has been no major damage in the other units of the factory, they added.

Sources in the factory said the incident took place at the time of melting of the explosives inside the filling station unit.

“There was a blast inside the filling station after which it caught fire”, sources in the locality said.

Soon after the fire, the security personnel cordoned off the entire factory premises and did not allow anyone including the media persons to enter the mishap site.
