Train services between Jaleswar and Kharagpur were disrupted for nearly four hours after a goods train caught fire in Jaleswar-Laxmananath down line in Odisha’s Baleswar district in the wee hours of Wednesday.
After noticing the fire, the train driver stopped the train at Laxmananath railway station and informed the station master, who in turn informed the fire brigade team that rushed to the spot and doused the fire at about 3.35 AM.
Train services in the route, which were disrupted for nearly four hours, resumed after 6 AM on Wednesday.
A number of passenger and goods trains between Kharagpur and Beheda and between Jaleswar and Bhadrak were starnded due to the mishap on the line.
Besides, the Puri-New Delhi Purushottampur Express train was also detained at Jaleswar station.
Meanwhile, authorities of the Kharagpur Railway Division have ordered a probe into the incident.
