Senior Congress leader and the head of the AICC screening committee for the selection of candidates for the Lok Sabha elections from Odisha Oscar Fernandes was evasive today when asked about reports that Leader of Opposition Bhupinder Singh was planning to quit the party and join BJD.
“I have no information on him. It is Mr BK Hariprasad (AICC in charge for Odisha), who is dealing with the issue,” he said in response to questions in this regard by media persons after he laid the foundation stone for the ESI Medical College and Hospital here today.
Union minister Srikant Jena, the man who is widely believed to be calling all the shots in the affairs of the Odisha Congress, was equally evasive on the issue. “As per the information that I have, he is sick and under treatment,” he said.
Asked about speculation regarding Singh quitting the Congress and joining the ruling BJD, Jena said he had no information on that either.
