Bhubaneswar, June 12:
Parents of Manab Patnaik, the Odisha techie who has gone missing since June 9 this month, urged the Commissionerate Police today to find out the bike used by Manab on the day he went missing to get some clue to trace their son.
Kambupani Patnaik, father of Manab and a retired income-tax officer, told OST that his son had left home without his bike and took another black-coloured bike from the locality. He said this fact was revealed by a betel shop owner at the KIIT Campus from whom Manab used to buy mouth fresheners. The shop owner said Manab had left for his office after taking some mouth freshener from his shop. A few minutes earlier, he had taken his breakfast from Taste Bird restaurant at KIIT campus, Patnaik added.
“My son is a person of very silent nature. Most of the time he prefers to stay at home. He never had an enmity with anyone. As he was new in the company, he had no problems with anybody and was fully content with his profession. He had joined TCS on May 28 this year as a trainee after leaving his job as a system administrator in SAI International,” said Patnaik.
“In the period since Manab went missing, we have contacted our relatives living in Bolangir, Kalahandi and Titlagarh in Odisha and in Delhi and Hyderabad, but failed to get any clue on his whereabouts,” Patnaik added.
“We have requested the officer-in-charge of the local police station to find out the bike that my son had used while going to his workplace to get some clue about his missing from the bike’s owner,” said Patnaik.
Meanwhile, the local police are investigating Manab’s previous call records and his bank transactions.
