According to reports, one Sudarsan Surin of Marangabahal village here took his two-year-old son to Meghapal hospital covering a distance of 7 km on bicycle after the kid fell ill. Surin was advised to take his child to Sambalpur hospital, 40 km away from Meghapal, as the condition of the baby deteriorated.

Surin requested several auto-rickshaw drivers to carry his child to Sambalpur hospital mentioning that he only has ten demonetized Rs 500 notes but no one agreed to help him.

Eventually, the kid succumbed at the hospital after being untreated for around 3 hours.
