The issue of farmers and procurement of agricultural produce found an echo in the state Assembly for the second day running on Thursday.

Raising the issue during zero hour, leader of the Opposition Bhupinder Singh drew the attention of the Speaker to the strike by secretaries of primary agricultural cooperative societies (PACS) in Bhubaneswar and wondered how the government could claim that all was well with procurement of paddy in mandis and provision of loans to farmers since PACS handle 80 percent of these jobs in Odisha.
