Police have unearthed a fake visa racket that was active in Odisha’s Kendrapara district with the arrest of two persons yesterday.
According to reports, the duo duped hundreds of overseas job seekers in the district with a promise of providing the aspirant jobs in foreign countries.
The matter came to the fore after around 70 youth knocked the doors of Nikirai police station about the fraud. They were assured of jobs in Mauritius and Kuwait.
Acting on the complaints, police rounded up the two accused – Prasant Behera of Choti village and Baburam Sethy from Madanpur village.
During intense interrogation, the two reportedly confessed to their crime which led to their arrest yesterday.
Forged employment visas, visa applications and other forged documents were recovered from their possession, sources said.
It may be mentioned here that several youth from this district move out of the state and country in search of jobs. Most of them are employed as plumbers, electricians, construction workers and security guards.
