The authorities of the Utkal University and Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology (OUAT) today postponed the semester examinations due to be held on Oct 13 and 14 by two days in view of the imepending cyclonic storm.
The Odisha government also avised the collectors of coastal districts to close down schools if heavy rain persists under the influence of Cyclone Hudhud.
In a letter, Secretary, School and Mass Education, Usha Padhee, asked the districts collectors to use these schools as places of shelter for the people of the concerned area.
She also asked the collectors to keep the mid-day meal (MDM) food stocks in these schools for the evacuated people. However, she told them to ask the concerned school authorities to maintain a detailed record of the MDM stock, the expenses of which would be reimbursed by the district administration within 15 days.
The SME secretary also asked the district education officers to coordinate with the district administration in this regard.
