Amateur Radio Society of Odisha in association with WPC wing of Ministry Of Communications today conducted Amateur Station Operator License (ASOL) Examination for the first time in the state.
As many as twenty candidates appeared for the ASOL examination, out of which twelve candidates appeared for restricted grade and eight candidates for general grade. From last two months, Amateur Radio Society of Odisha (ARSO) has been instrumental in conducting seminars, workshops, technical papers and preparatory classes for the candidates.
After the examination, operating licence was issued to successful candidates by Ministry of Communications, Govt of India authorizing them to setup their own amateur radio (Ham) stations to carry out research and investigation in radio communication technology and assist in disaster communications during natural calamities when primary communication lines are non-operational.
Notably, ARSO has also planned to conduct such kind of activities and examination on regular basis for aspiring HAMs.
