Bhubaneswar, Jan 4:
Commissionerate police today arrested a former sub-registrar in Khordha district for helping a person farudulently get ownership of a piece of land worth around Rs 6 crore in Goutamnagar arae in the Odisha capital
The accused was identified as Sudhir Kumar Lenka. He retired from service last year.
Badagada police sources said one Jaykrushna Dash of Puri district got the piece of land, belonging to one Sisir Chandra Kanungo of the city, regsitered in his name by presenting false document at the sub- registrar’s office in 2012.
Dash had got the piece of land regsitered in his name in connivance with Lenka, who had allowed him to take over the land fraudulently without a proper check of the documents.
“Police today arrested Lenka for his involvement in the fraudulent land case while dash is still absconding,” said a police officer.
Kanungo had lodged a case at the Badagada police station in the month of December last year asking the officer in charge to inquire and arrest the culprits involved in the case.
