Sources said, Dayanidhi Kisan (64), a native of Nuapada village under Bonei sub division of the district had been residing at his Chhend residence in Rourkela city for the last five years.
Dayanidhi Kisan, a B Tech. graduate, had joined politics after serving as an Executive Engineer and was elected to Odisha Legislative Assembly from Bonei assembly constituency as a BJP candidate in 2000.
He later joined the BJD and was nominated as Chairman of Rourkela Development Authority (RDA) by the Naveen Pattnaik government and held the post from 2010 to 2014. He had contested again from the Bonei assembly constituency on a BJD ticket in the May 2014 assembly election, but lost.
Kisna’s sudden demise has shocked people in Steel City. After hearing about his sudden demise, people from different sections of the society, including former minister Sarada Prasad Nayak and Raghunathpalli MLA Subrat Tarai, visited IGH.
His dead body was brought to his Chhend residence after a procession via the BJD office and RDA office before being taken to his native village where last rites were performed.
