Balangir, Jun 14:
The district administration today began demolition of building illegally constructed by Khirod Mishra, a gang member of dreaded criminal Timan Kumbhar, on a government school land at Shantipada in Odisha’s Balangir district.
The demolition drive was started in the presence of a magistrate and municipality officials. Three platoons of police force were deployed to avoid any untoward incident, sources said.
The encroachment had come to the notice of the administration some 20 days ago. A notice was served yesterday evening regarding the eviction, sources added. A total of six houses constructed on three plots will be evicted, a municipality official said.
Notably, non-bailable warrants have been issued against 10 members of the gang including Mishra. Though Khirod Mishra alias Guruji is a teacher by profession, he is allegedly involved in several cases of land grabbing.
Police have launched a massive manhunt to nab all the members of Timan’s gang including Mishra, who is currently absconding.
