Jajpur: An estranged woman was allegedly gang-raped by three men at Panikoili in Odisha’s Jajpur district last evening on the pretext of being provided with a job by the accused.
According to reports, the victim woman of Kuakhia area was staying at Brahmabarada here after getting separated from her husband. Last evening, she had come to meet one of her relatives in Korei in order to arrange a job for herself.
After she got off the bus in Panikoili, the three accused, identified as Rabindra Malik, Lala Malik and Honey Rout, approached the woman and convinced her to go with them as they promised her to provide her a job at a vehicle showroom.
However, the trio allegedly gang-raped the woman whole night and dumped her on road. They also looted Rs 8,000 from the woman and threatened her not to disclose the matter to anyone.
Spotting the woman crying on roadside, locals informed Korei police following which cops reached the spot and rescued her. She was later sent for medical examination.
Probing into the incident, police have arrested Rabindra Malik while two other accused were yet to be held till last reports came in.
