Nabrangpur, Dec 5:
‘Maoist’ Basudev Keuta who had managed to escape from police custody in Raighar on December 2 night was caught on Wednesday from the forested area of Timanpur on the Odisha-Chhattisgarh border, police sources said.
Basudev is being interrogated at the Kundei police station for more leads on Maoist activity in the area.
Officer in charge of Kundei police station Satyananda Patra said Basudev was associated with the Mainpur Divisional Committee of the Maoists for the last six years.
Basudev who was arrested by Kundei police from Khiloli forested area four days back managed to escape from the Raighar police station premises on December 2 night while he was in police custody.
Police said Basudev was involved in raising funds for the Maoists from political leaders, businessmen and contractors. He threatened people using Mainpur Divisional Committee secretary Jani Salem’s name for his extortion activities, police added.
