EOW arrest Odisha builder in Rs 2.5 cr IDBI Bank fraud

Economic Offences Wing (EOW) today arrested an accused for fraudulently selling a mortgaged property in Odisha capital.


The sleuths arrested Deepak Kumar Gouda of Patrapada from here in connection with the Rs 2.5 crore fraud in which he had sold a land mortgaged with IDBI Bank.

The accused was a guarantor for a loan of Rs 2.5 crore availed by his wife Sanghamitra from Janapath Branch of IDBI Bank here. On default of repayment, the bank put up the property for auction which was bought by one Brajendra Nath Patra in March, 2014.

Later, Deepak fraudulently sold the property to Binod Bihari Majhi, Maheswar Majhi and Goutam Parida in December, 2014.

When the complainant Brajendra came to know about the illegal transaction, he filed a complaint against Deepak following which he was arrested and forwarded to court today.

A case was registered under section 467/468/471/420/120(B) IPC registered on the direction of High Court.
