Elephant calf rescued by locals in Odisha’s Athagarh

Athagarh: An elephant calf lying at a farmland was rescued by locals at Khamara Nuagaon under Khuntuni Forest Division in Odisha’s Athagarh today.

According to reports, the baby elephant had some to the area along with a herd of the jumbos. However, the calf remained at the field while other pachyderms left the spot.

Spotting the elephant calf this morning, the locals rescued and brought it to the village carrying the animal on their shoulders.

On being informed, Forest officials recahed the spot and sent the mammal for treatment.
