Bhubaneswar, Mar 18:
An elderly couple yesterday alleged that a builder has grabbed their land located near Bhubaneswar-Puri National Highway (NH) paying only registration fee.
They approached Mancheswar police station to file a complaint against the builder, but they returned their home with great disappointment. As the land comes under Satyabadi police station limits, the Mancheswar police asked them to lodge the complaint there.
According to reports, a builder operating its office in Bhubaneswar wanted to buy 30 decimal land belonging to the couple in Sataybadi area. On approach by an employee working at the real estate firm, the couple — Balabhadra Sahoo and Lakhmipriya Sahoo of Biramitrapur Dandasahi under Satyabadi police station in Puri district — had agreed to sell their land.
The deal was made for Rs 8.10 lakh. Initially, the builder paid Rs 3 lakh as advance amount for registration of land. He had promised to pay the rest of the amount Rs 5.10 lakh later. However, the couple got not a single amount from the builder after registration since 8 months. Even, the phone number provided to them of the employee is found switched off.
Meanwhile, the Sahoo couple came to know about another fact that their land has been sold to four-five persons.
