The commissionerate police has put in place elaborate security measures to ensure a smooth and incident-free celebration of Independence Day in the state capital here on Thursday.
“Thirty one platoons of armed police forces would be deployed at various places in the city. The security will be supervised by 12 ACPs and 20 Inspectors,” revealed Bhubaneswar DCP Nitinjit Singh.
Armed policemen on the rooftops of buildings along the Mahatma Gandhi Marg will keep a watch on the proceedings of the parade while plain-clothes policemen will be deployed among the crowd. Five close circuit cameras will be installed at the parade venue to keep track of anti-social elements,” the DCP said.
Vehicular traffic would be regulated on all roads leading to Mahatma Gandhi Marg from 7 am to 9 am, Singh said, adding that there would be no sale of gas-filled balloons between PMG Square and Master Canteen Square from 6 am till the conclusion of the parade.
