An eight-year-old boy has been admitted to the Keonjhar District Headquarters Hospital in Odisha after the minor was allegedly branded with a hot iron rod for curing an ailment.
Gurucharana Kala hailing from Pancham village under Harichandanpur block in Keonjhar district was suffering from fever. As the child didn’t get well after for two days, the child’s mother Dibani Kala labelled a hot iron rod on his forehead.
Later, the victim was admitted to the hospital today as his health condition deteriorated.
The Chief District Medical Officer (CDMO) Kabindra Prasad Sahoo said, “The child from Pancham village has been admitted in the Paediatrics ward today. His mother has branded the child on his head out of superstition. Health condition of the child is improving and our hospital will provide free treatment to the baby”.
